Organizational workload may increase students’ demands in terms of time, responsibility, and activities, potentially affecting their academic performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of organizational workload on students’ academic performance in higher education institutions in Surabaya. A quantitative approach with a causal associative design was employed using purposive sampling involving 66 active students who were currently or previously involved in student organizations at higher education institutions in Surabaya. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity, reliability, classical assumption, simple linear regression, Pearson correlation, t-test, and coefficient of determination analyses. The results indicate that organizational workload has no significant effect on academic performance (r = 0.072; p = 0.567), with a coefficient of determination of 0.005 or 0.5%. These findings indicate that organizational workload is not a primary factor explaining students’ academic performance. This study contributes empirical evidence on the relationship between organizational workload and academic performance among university students in Surabaya.
