Mishkat: Journal of Theology and Civilization is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing publication malpractice. The journal upholds the principles of transparency, academic integrity, fairness, accountability, and scholarly responsibility in all stages of the publication process. Editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers are expected to adhere to these ethical standards to ensure the quality and credibility of published research.
Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic merit, originality, clarity, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope. Editors shall ensure a fair, unbiased, and confidential review process and shall not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts to unauthorized parties. Editorial decisions must be free from discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, political beliefs, or institutional affiliation.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers contribute to editorial decisions through an objective, constructive, and timely peer-review process. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts, identify relevant published works that have not been cited, and notify editors of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published works. Reviewers should disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline review assignments when impartial evaluation is not possible.
Duties of Authors
Authors must submit original work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal or publisher. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented, proper acknowledgment of sources, and compliance with applicable ethical standards. Any form of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Plagiarism Policy
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, data manipulation, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected. If ethical violations are discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to retract or correct the published work.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Authors may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with language editing, grammar checking, formatting, or other editorial support functions. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scholarly content of their manuscripts. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for published work. Any substantial use of AI tools in the preparation of a manuscript should be disclosed appropriately by the authors.
Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the evaluation, review, or publication of a manuscript. Any potential conflict of interest should be reported promptly to the editorial office to ensure transparency and fairness throughout the publication process.
Sponsorship Disclosure
Mishkat: Journal of Theology and Civilization maintains editorial independence in all aspects of journal management and publication. Any sponsorship, financial support, institutional assistance, or external funding that may affect journal operations will be disclosed transparently. Sponsorship arrangements shall not influence editorial decisions, peer-review outcomes, or publication standards.
Retraction and Corrections
The journal reserves the right to retract, correct, or withdraw published articles when significant errors, ethical violations, or evidence of research misconduct are identified. Corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions will be issued when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Peer Review Integrity
All manuscripts submitted to Mishkat: Journal of Theology and Civilization undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic quality, objectivity, fairness, and scholarly integrity. Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations, academic merit, and the contribution of the manuscript to the field of study.
