Author Guidelines

Mishkat: Journal of Theology and Civilization welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and critical reviews that contribute to the advancement of theology, religious studies, philosophy, ethics, and civilization studies. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal or publisher.

Manuscript Language

The journal accepts manuscripts written in English, Indonesian, and Arabic. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the language used is academically appropriate, clear, and grammatically accurate.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) and generally range between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references. Authors are encouraged to follow the journal template and ensure consistency in formatting throughout the manuscript.

Manuscript Structure

1. Title

The title should accurately reflect the content of the manuscript and clearly indicate the focus of the study. Authors are encouraged to use concise and informative titles that avoid unnecessary abbreviations or overly broad terminology.

2. Author Information

This section should include the full name of each author, institutional affiliation, country, and email address. The corresponding author should be clearly identified to facilitate communication during the editorial and publication process.

3. Abstract

The abstract should provide a concise summary of the study, including the research background, objectives, methodology, findings, and conclusions. It should be written in a single paragraph and contain approximately 150–250 words. The abstract should enable readers to understand the essence of the article without consulting the full text.

4. Keywords

Authors should provide three to five keywords that represent the primary concepts discussed in the manuscript. Keywords should be specific and relevant to facilitate indexing and improve article discoverability.

5. Introduction

The introduction should explain the background of the study, identify the research problem, present relevant literature, highlight the research gap, and state the objectives and significance of the study. Authors are expected to demonstrate the novelty and scholarly contribution of their work.

6. Research Method

This section should clearly describe the research design, approach, data sources, data collection techniques, and analytical procedures employed in the study. For conceptual, philosophical, or library-based research, authors should explain the analytical framework and methods used to interpret and examine the data or literature.

7. Results and Discussion

The results and discussion section should present the findings of the research and critically analyze them in relation to the research objectives, theoretical framework, and previous studies. Authors are encouraged to provide original interpretations and demonstrate the significance of their findings within broader academic discussions.

8. Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the principal findings of the study and emphasize their academic implications. This section should directly address the research objectives and may include recommendations for future research where appropriate.

9. Acknowledgements (Optional)

Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, funding agencies, or organizations that have contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship. This section should be concise and limited to relevant contributions.

10. References

All sources cited in the manuscript must be included in the reference list. References should be arranged according to APA 7th Edition guidelines and should primarily consist of scholarly and relevant sources. Authors are encouraged to use recent publications while also incorporating seminal works when necessary.

Citation and Reference Style

The journal adopts the APA 7th Edition citation style. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure accuracy and consistency in citations and references.

Originality and Academic Integrity

Submitted manuscripts must be original works and must not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of academic misconduct. All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection software prior to the review process.

Authorship

Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

Ethical Considerations

Authors are required to comply with the journal's Publication Ethics policy. Any potential conflicts of interest, sources of funding, or circumstances that may influence the research should be disclosed at the time of submission.

Review and Revision Process

All manuscripts submitted to Mishkat: Journal of Theology and Civilization undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer comments and editorial recommendations before a final publication decision is made.

Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all metadata, including author information, abstracts, keywords, and references, are complete and accurate prior to submission.
